JMU Alumni Association Scholarships

The JMU Alumni Association is proud to offer several types of scholarship opportunities to students on both a recurring and one-time basis. Award amounts and application deadlines vary from year-to-year.

Legacy Scholarships: Awarded to incoming first-year legacy students. Legacy students are defined as those who have JMU alumni parent(s) and/or grandparent(s). To be considered for a Legacy Scholarship, candidates must have indicated their legacy status on the admissions application.

Chapter Scholarships: Several of our alumni chapters offer one-time scholarships for incoming first-year students from their geographical area. Scholarship amounts varies year-to-year.

Road to Success Scholarships: Funded via the JMU Alumni Association's license plate program and is a partnership with the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles. $15 of the annual $25 annual DMV renewal fee goes directly back to JMU and helps to support scholarships for JMU Students. Since the license plate program was established, license plate sales have provided over $1,000,000 for student scholarships. Want to put your JMU pride where it counts? All scholarships are now administered via the Madison Scholarship Hub. Please check their website for details about the type of scholarships available.
