James Madison University alumni are extraordinary, and their accomplishments benefit both society and our campus. To celebrate the accomplishments of our alumni, the JMU Alumni Association presents awards to recognize career achievement and service to the university. These awards are given annually at the Alumni Awards Banquet, during Madison Week (March).
Seven alumni, one from each college at JMU, are recognized for their career achievements with a Distinguished Alumni Award. One of these recipients is selected as our "Alumnus/a of the Year" and is also honored with the Ronald E. Carrier Distinguished Alumni Achievement Award. Additionally, we present the Inez Graybeal Roop Distinguished Alumni Service Award to a dedicated alumni volunteer.
